Gluten Free Pasta

Gluten Free PastaThere is so much hype about how bad wheat pasta is because we eat it excessively (every day), the soils are so depleted, gluten is bad for your health, pasta/wheat/gluten makes you fat…etc. If you don’t have an issue with gluten or wheat and eat it once in a while, then I think it’s fine. If you omit something entirely from your diet then there is a chance that you are going to have nutritional deficiencies. Even so, I do think our society eats much too much wheat products: pasta, bread, pretzels, bagels, tortillas, etc. I’ve decided to cut back on wheat so I’ve tried different products. The latest vegan and gluten-free pastas I’ve tried are Organic Mung Bean Fettuccini and Organic Black Bean Spaghetti; they were over $4.00 for a 7.05 ounce package, and sound like healthier options: “rich in protein and dietary fibers”. I followed the cooking instructions exactly and was totally bummed out by the non-existent flavor and wet-paper texture. I’m going to ask the store for a refund. No store should carry products that taste terrible!
