Which oils and fats are bad. You may be surprised.
I think everyone knows that lard is bad and to limit saturated fats, but did you know that all oils contain saturated fat? The more saturated fat an oil or product has, the more we should avoid it. Highly saturated fatty foods include butter, cheese, cocoa butter, palm kernel oil, and coconut oil. Even though coconut oil is considered a healthy oil, it is the most saturated, contains the most calories, and like all fats, it can make you fat.
Why the fuss? It a fact that “…saturated fat raises cholesterol, especially the bad LDL cholesterol” (1). Switch to olive oil whenever you can. No one expects perfection of you; it can be tough for some to give up steak. If you eat red meat, just make sure to cuff off, or spit out the fat.
