I’ve heard stories from male bodybuilders who get too busy training clients to eat all their meals at designated times, so they eat several of those carefully portioned meals at the end of their work day. That’s no big deal when it comes to carbs and fats, but the human body can only utilize so much protein at one time (1). This is why it’s important so spread out your protein intake throughout the day. To emphasize this issue, a study from the University of Texas found that people who crammed three servings of protein into one meal only got the benefits as if they ate 1/3 of the protein they actually consumed (1). Take a break and eat every three hours so you’re not wasting your money on pricey protein.
