Is tap water safe to drink?

Even if you don’t live in Flint, MI, the water coming out of your tap probably has lead, which may cause high blood pressure, and brain and organ damage. Tap water has also been shown to contain chemicals MTBE, used in gasoline, PFOA, used to create non-stick surfaces, arsenic, uranium, nitrate, and pharmaceutical drugs (1).

The disinfectants water utilities use are also problematic because chlorine can combine with other compounds so that they become carcinogenic, causing bladder cancer.

You may want to buy bottled water and/or use a filter. I go to the extra step, and filter bottled water. Yes, it costs more, but investing in your health is always worth it.
