How to make vegetable stock (in 3 minutes) to save money (no oil or added fats)

Vegetable stock, or any broth, is really expensive and they all contain ingredients I don’t want like oil, sugar, flour, MSG, juice, yeast, preservatives, animal products, flavors (chemicals), and too much salt. I found a way to make a vegan vegetable herb stock that goes with any recipe. It literally takes three minutes to make.

Fit Girl Herb Broth

ingredients:

4 cups filtered water + 1/4 cup

1 onion, peeled and diced

1 garlic clove, peeled, smashed and minced

1/4 tsp paprika

dash of turmeric

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 T oregano, dried

1 large bay leaf

1/4 cup coconut aminos (I prefer the Coconut Secret brand)

Put a large saucepan on stovetop burner and put heat on medium-high for one minute. Add diced onion and garlic to dry pan and stir. Quickly add 1/4 cup water and stir until onion is translucent so it’s cooked through and soft. Add the rest of the water, spices, herbs, coconut aminos (this is the secret ingredient that makes this broth so delicious) and stir. Keep on stovetop with the heat on until the broth is hot enough to your liking. Your broth is done.

Next step is to add the rest of your ingredients to make a soup or stew. After the rest of your vegetables and/or beans are added and cooked through, taste the broth to determine if it needs more herbs or spices. If you want heat, add a few dashes of cayenne or hot sauce. If you want an Asian broth, add 1/4 cup miso, 1/4 tsp sesame oil, a bunch of diced green onions, 1 cup thinly sliced green cabbage, a few dashes of 5-spice powder and a pinch of powdered ginger.

This broth is so versatile, you can add any additional herbs, vegetables and greens (spinach is a great flavor enhancer to add the last 30 seconds to the pot), to change the flavor.
