I’ve read and heard that if you’re not sweating hard enough, then you’re not working hard enough. That’s not true. Not everyone sweats the same amount. The employee at the carpet store had drips of sweat down his face, while my husband and I were quite comfortable.
At a hot yoga class, my towel will be soaking, but I’ll burn more calories and be super exhausted by just 30 minutes of squats, lunges with weights and jumps…and I’m not sweaty during weight-training.
Some people cannot sweat because of a condition called anhidrosis aka hypohidrosis. You can read more about this from the Mayo clinic from the following link: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/anhidrosis/DS01050
So, now you know. If someone tells you work harder, show them that karate kick you’ve been practicing!
We sip wine, we sip margaritas and we sip martinis so why do guys gulp down beer? Don’t you like beer? Don’t people gulp down drinks they hate because they can’t stand the taste? No? If you guys LOVE beer, then why don’t you sip it? Savor it! Don’t down the whole pint in two swallows and then belch out your name. Gross!
I’m so annoyed that with every shirt I buy, I have to also buy a matching tank top to go under it. Newsflash: not everyone has a boob job! Slim women typically have smaller breasts. Big boobs and skinny legs = fake, fake, fake. Guys tells me that looks weird, and it does because it’s not natural. Ladies, stop it! Enough is enough. A guy that only likes you for your boobs is a guy that’s selfish and insecure; you don’t want that!
Wouldn’t it be nice to order your six pack abs? Wait, isn’t that what so many people do already? All the infomercials for exercise DVDs promise that if you follow their meal plan and do their exercises for 90 days, you too will have 6-pack abs. Unless you’re already really lean, that’s unlikely. My trainer said that genetics plays a big part in it. Those amazing bodies look that way because they are getting HGH injections at $1000/month. WebMD also says that six-pack abs are rare. It’s too bad our society’s image of perfection is one that is unnatural and unattainable without surgery or extreme measures.
I saw an add for Yonanas Frozen yogurt maker on TV and was sold! All you do is add partially defrosted bananas and whatever other partially frozen fruit you like. Sounded perfect! After following one of the recipes, I ended up with about 2 tablespoons of product. Where did the rest go? How did one banana turn into 2 tablespoons? I disassembled the appliance and the majority of the banana was smooched inside. I tried 4 other recipes and the problem was the same, a lot of the fruit gets wasted inside the machine. What I also didn’t like was that the texture; it’s supposed to have the texture and temperature of frozen yogurt, but what ends up is partially cold and mostly mushy bananas. I returned it. It’s too bad because the concept was good.
I just recently tried the Banana-Strawberry, Blueberry & Passionate Mango flavored yogurts by SoDelicious and, unfortunately, two are NOT delicious. The Banana-Strawberry has an overwhelming banana flavor and tastes really weird. The Blueberry is good, but Strawberry is better. I love mangos and make mango smoothies all the time but their mango yogurt is too thick, too strong and just not good!
Loving Hut is a fun vegan restaurant that I love going to. I can eat “beef” without worrying about feeling ill, or ingesting hormones, or mad cow disease! They have burgers, lemon grass fried “chicken,” Mongolian “beef”…etc…and their “meat” dishes taste really close to the real thing, flavor and texture. My favorite is the Amazing Saute: stir-fried “beef” with vegetables and brown rice. They also have Spicy Cha-Cha, which tastes like stir-fried seasoned jumbo shrimp…yum, yum, yum. My husband is a fan of their sandwiches. I’ve tried a lot of their vegan desserts, which are not that good. Forget the dessert and enjoy the food.
My favorite dark chocolate is Enjoy Live Boom Choco Boom Bar. It is dairy, nut, soy and gluten free. A square will satisfy any chocolate craving and only 57 calories, not bad. The best time to eat this chocolate is in the summer when it’s warm, keep in the cupboard at room temperature. It the winter it doesn’t melt in your mouth and tastes completely different. You can always melt it in the microwave and drizzle over a frozen banana, yum!
It’s really hard to replicate a fattening dessert that has butter, milk, flour and sugar but Earth Café found the right combination that’s raw, vegan, dairy-free and super close to the real thing. Their cheesecakes are delicious. My favorite is raspberry. The carob is a bit too sweet and the crust too salty. I contact them to see if they can make the chocolate with less agave and cut back on the salt. I’ll also ask them to put the carob into pudding cups…yum. I don’t even like carob, but theirs tastes like real chocolate.
This morning I tried Vanilla Bean Plant Fusion protein powder. It’s dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free and, has “amazing taste” listed on the front of the package. It has kind of a lot of calories for a protein powder, 120, but a decent amount of protein at 21g, and only 4 grams of carbs which is not bad. As for “amazing taste,” it has no taste, and has the texture of chalk.
I know there are people out there who eat chalk, but I am not one of them. I’ll keep looking for a vegan protein powder!
