If you see small, raised, red dots on your skin, those are called cherry angiomas, are harmless, and can be removed easily by a dermatologist. One method of cherry angioma removal is by zapping them with a laser, which stings for a few seconds. The downside to this is that you will have slightly larger and darker red spots for a few days. The good news is that, in about a week, those ugly red spots will be gone.

What causes these red dots to appear is up for debate, but it appears to be hereditary.  The theory that bromine toxicity causes angiomas and can be prevented by taking iodine are from unsubstantiated anecdotal accounts.
